Plant Use: Found in the tropical forests of the world, Phyllanthus niruri, or ‘Stonebreaker’ is best known as a kidney and gall stone herbal remedy. Studies have shown it to be a powerful kidney stone deterrent as well as being capable of breaking up stones in the urinary tract, and allowing sufficient relaxation of the muscles so that the stones can pass safely through the tissues in the ureter and bladder wall. It also has a long traditional use as a remedy for ulcers, viral infections, liver disorders, and bacterial infections.
Preparations: Infusion – make a nourishing cup of tea. Add lemon juice or Apple cider vinegar to potentiate its actions.
